Alexander Gonzalez (born 1946) is the 11th president of California State University, Sacramento (Sacramento State), where he began in 2003. He previously served as president of California State University, San Marcos from 1997–2003 and as provost at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) from 1991-1997. == Education == Gonzalez received his bachelor’s degree in history from Pomona College, where he graduated with honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. His doctorate and master’s degree in psychology are from UC Santa Cruz where his mentor was Elliot Aronson. After graduate school, he spent a year at Stanford University as a postdoctoral fellow of the Ford Foundation and the National Research Council conducting research on the psychology of time. He also attended Harvard Law School and served in the United States Air Force.
